About Gloria Musica

Gloria Musica (School of Music) is an established and leading music school based in Desa Parkcity, Kuala Lumpur; founded by two passionate music educator and performer: Ms. Lee Jia Xian & Ms. Yap Kar Ley. Since our school started in 2012, Gloria Musica (School of Music) has continuously improved and provided a par excellence in music education to our neighbourhood.

We believe every child is teachable. It’s our responsibility to discover and to draw the most potential in every child. Our missions are to create the right platform for musical expression, to cultivate the love for learning and to outlive the enjoyment of music making could bring in life. Throughout the years, we have been consistently striving for the best in providing quality teaching, nurturing and inspiring young musician.

Here, we provide a wide range of full expertise in music education range from early childhood music up to advanced diploma level (piano, vocal, violin, viola, cello, guitar, ukulele, flute, etc). Other than individual lessons, we conduct group classes for young children: Music for Young Children (MYC) program is our signature music program for children aged 3-12 years old. We aim at building a solid foundation that last for a life time, cultivating and sustaining children interest.

Meet our directors

Yap Kar Ley and Lee Jia Xian are both Bachelor degree (Classical Music) graduates from UCSI University. They are both piano major under the tutelage of Professor Dr. P'ng Tean Hwa throughout their study in university. During the partnership of ensemble playing in duet, duo and 2 pianos 8 hands, they gradually develop the affection towards this type of genre. The ensemble repertoires include Gershwin, Arensky, Grieg, Smetana, Liszt and Copland. Due to the fine works in their examinations, they had been selected for several times to be showcased in the chamber music ensemble concert, organized by the UCSI University School of Music. In 2010, they performed before the Crown Price and Princess of Norway in a state dinner hosted by the Norwegian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

With the same mission and vision in music education in mind, in year 2012, both of them started the music school- Gloria Musica. At the same time, they attained a diploma in child psychology and special needs management, which equip them with more professional approach towards early childhood and development. Since then, Gloria Musica (School of Music) has been consistently expanding and developed into a recognized music school in Klang Valley.

Yar Kar Ley was the Award Winner in Trinity London College Music Examination in her LTCL Solo Piano 2010 and obtained the Outstanding Achiever Certificate of Excellence in Trinity Guildhall Music Examination-- ATCL in Solo Piano 2008. During her undergraduate studies at UCSI University, her name had been appeared numerous times in the Dean’s List for her academy excellency. She was also selected to have masterclass with Dr. Peter Armstutz and as one of a selected candidates to performed in the concert of the “200th Anniversary of the birth of Frederic Chopin and Robert Schumann” and “2011 Trinity Guildhall/Rockschool Awards & Concert”.

Lee Jia Xian obtained UCSI Scholarship of Outstanding Performance and Achievement in 2007 to pursue her undergraduate studies at UCSI University. She was being selected twice to be performed in the masterclass of Dr. Julian Jacobson and Shuen Da Wong during her year of tertiary education. She was also awarded with Dean’s List UCSI University Certificate of Academic Excellence in her academy performances. Lee is also the holder of both the Associate of Trinity College London and Licentiate of Trinity College London.
